linear vs circular

For decades, we have been consuming man-made objects using raw materials taken from our planet and throwing them away after use; in a purely linear consumption, with no regard for the fact that our planet's resources are limited.

Then we became somewhat aware of this and thought that recycling would solve everything.

But today only a small proportion of plastics are actually recycled, whilst their consumption is constantly increasing.

Circular sobriety must become our watchword, but this can only be achieved by

  • drastically reducing our consumption of raw materials,
  • promoting the sharing and repair of the objects we have produced, before recycling them at the end of their life, and
  • composting our organic waste so that it can be returned to the earth from which it came.
