The importance of marking:
a logo for each
end-of-life
The
presence of microorganisms, the effects of humidity, temperature, or human
intervention are indeed crucial.
This is one of the differences between composting and biodegradation in an open environment.
Composting, whether in an industrial facility or in your backyard, is a human-managed process (regular input of fresh material, aeration, collection and allocation of compost), whereas biodegradation in an open environment is in a way subcontracting a process to nature without further human intervention.
To take all these differences into account, we have developed a certification scheme and a logo for each type of end of life environment.
And to ensure clear communication to consumers, this environment is always specified in the logo: INDUSTRIAL / HOME / SOIL / WATER / MARINE.
