The Renewable Carbon Initiative

The Renewable Carbon Initiative (RCI) is a cross-industry group founded in 2020 by the nova-Institute to transition the chemical and materials industry from fossil carbon to renewable sources—biomass, CCU (Carbon Capture & Utilization), and recycling

AFCB (France)

The AFCB (Association Française des Compostables Biosourcés), established in 2006 under the name Club Bio-plastiques, represents all stakeholders in the French bio-based, biodegradable and compostable resins sector. 

AssoBioCom (Spain)

Founded in 2012, ASOBIOCOM acts as an interface between the compostable plastics industry, policymakers, authorities, and consumers to promote the use of these materials in Spain. 

AssoBioPlastiche (Italy)

Founded in 2001, Assobioplastiche is the Italian Association of Bioplastics and Biodegradable and Compostable Materials. 
It represents the sector (producers, processors, recyclers) to promote the circular economy, the collection of bio-waste and the fight against unfair competition. 

BBIA (UK)

At the BBIA we are focused on accelerating the adoption of bio-based, biodegradable, and compostable chemicals and materials in the UK, in order to reduce our reliance on fossil resources and create a sustainable circular economy..

BBP (Belgium)

Since 2006, Belgian Bio-Products represents companies and organizations active in the Belgian market for bio-based and biodegradable products. 

Holland Bioplastics 
(The Netherlands)

 Holland Bioplastics aims to disseminate, share and make knowledge accessible, and to bring together stakeholders in the bioplastics sector.

INAK Initiative natürliche Kreislaufwirtschaft (Germany)

INAK is an association of companies, scientists, waste management companies, and certifiers committed to the use of biodegradable and compostable materials in meaningful applications to avoid microplastic pollution and keep natural resources in the cycle.

Nordisk Bioplastförenings 
(Nordic Region)

Nordisk Bioplastförenings  represent the actors working with bioplastics in the Nordic region and our mission is to work to influence the economic and regulatory framework within the EU/Nordic region so that the bioplastics market can grow sustainably.

American Associations

ABICOM (Brazil)

Founded in 2009, ABICOM brings together small, medium and large enterprises that produce, process, distribute and use biodegradable and compostable polymers, as well as companies involved in the organic waste recovery chain through composting and service providers to the sector.

AMBIO (Mexico)

The Mexican Association of Bioplastics promotes and coordinates the bioplastics value chain in Mexico, bringing together industry, academia and various partners.

BPI (North America)

BPI champions a transition to the circular bioeconomy by collaboratively advancing policy, standards, research, and the systematic science-based verification of claims for compostability and biomaterials..

Asian Associations

Australian Bioplastics Association

The ABA is the peak industry body for certified compostable products, certified soil biodegradable mulch film, and the bioplastics sector in Australia and New Zealand. We champion the industry through policy, standards, and innovation, with our independent certification program ensuring products meet high compostability standards – building trust and driving the shift to a circular economy.

Indian Compostable Polymer Association

ICPA supports India's sustainability and circular economy goals through three core pillars:

Japan Bioplastics Association

Japan BioPlastics Association (JBPA) was established in 1989 Japan as the name of Biodegradable Plastics Society, Japan (BPS).

Since then, with more than 200 membership companies, JBPA has been making many efforts to promote the recognition and the business development of “Biodegradable Plastics” and “Biomass-based Plastics” in Japan.

Korean Bioplastics Association

The Korean Bioplastics Association will gather the opinions of its member companies to promote the development of bioplastics, diversify the market, and expand the scale of the bioplastics industry to create new jobs and help create a sustainable society.
